Tobin Introduces Our Loose Parts Area & Mud Kitchen

We’ve long been interested in offering a natural play space here on our Tobin Natick Campus. Our wonderful playground spaces offer a wide variety of play opportunities and physical challenges for every age–infants up to school age–but we longed to bring the joys of a more open-ended, natural play experience to our program. After much planning and a lot of extra effort, we are very excited to unveil our new Loose Parts Area & Mud Kitchen!

This playspace offers an outdoor classroom with log seating, a cozy ‘nest’ for reading and relaxing, a rock box for a new sensory challenge, an area focused on creating fairy houses and creations, a new raised bed to house a sensory garden, a space just for digging, and a free build area complete with a wide variety of materials to engage our students creatively. This week we also were excited to add our new Mud Kitchen–complete with lots of pots, pans, bowls, utensils, and more for all sorts of engaging play. We love the idea of allowing our students the chance to engage with water, leaves, sticks, and mud and to get their hands dirty in this super fun way! And judging from the reactions of the children (and the teachers!), they are loving it too!

We’d love to show you all the ways we work to engage young learners! Contact us today to find out way Tobin can be the perfect start to your child’s educational career.
